An abandoned home in east San Diego county under the night sky. All that remains is a chimney and a partially standing wall.

Good Times Past | Abandoned Homestead in East San Diego County

Remains of an abandoned and dilapidated homestead in east county San Diego. All that remains under the stars is a chimney and broken fragments of a wall.

The Story Behind the Photo

Some of the buildings I've found were abandoned not due to forest fires but rather economic blight and leaving for better prospects. At one time, a family may have built a home and perhaps a business around the land. Times were a booming and they may have lived well for a while, but whatever natural resources they accessed were eventually depleted or other changes caused economic hardship. And perhaps their descendents no longer wanted to continue living here and decided to move away.

This is the remains of an old homestead in east county. Probably abandoned for at least 70 years or more. I can only imagine the people who lived here before, sitting around the fireplace enjoying some good times. Unfortunately, I was saddened to learn that the chimney fell over due to very high winds sometime during February 2020.

Acrylic Fine Art Print with a Float Mount — Ready to Hang

Trulife Acrylic Fine Art Print

This is a photographic print where the front has been directly adhered to a sheet of TruLife acrylic which is an ultra clear, scratch resistant, and anti-reflective glazing. This process is known as face mounting. The acrylic captures light internally and bounces it off the surface of the print resulting in a display with incredible depth and vibrancy. With proper lighting, the acrylic print will appear to have light emanating from the image itself. The back of the print is sealed with another layer of protective acrylic.

The print comes ready to hang with hidden mounting hardware on the back that makes the print appear as if it is floating in front of the wall. No additional framing is needed. Choose this medium for a modern and minimalist presentation.

Print is signed and numbered on verso (back).

Please allow 4-6 weeks for production and delivery of your print. The prices include U.S. shipping, please inquire for international rates.
