When I made this photo, I had been really busy shooting the Milky Way. I had just made trips to Little Blair Valley to shoot pictographs and then spent a few nights in Joshua Tree. When I got back, although I was pretty tired from lack of sleep, I jumped on the chance to go up to Lake Cuyamaca with a friend.
Cuyamaca is a popular destination with San Diego photographers -- it's relatively close and dark enough to get good shots of the Milky Way. The lakefront always makes a great foreground subject. However we wanted to try something new and explored the area and found this great overlook.
