I find it difficult to express just how special Balboa Park is. To me, it's a magical place where I can relax and enjoy being outside away from my desk. It doesn't matter if I'm going for a walk, a run, to photograph a sunset, or visiting with friends and relatives. The Spanish Colonial Revival buildings and architecture are incredible, the gardens are wonderful, and there are many magnificent trees planted around the park. I especially love the Moreton Bay fig trees, which were planted over a hundred years ago for 1915 Panama-California Exposition. I've always imagined this place as a castle in a fairy tale and I've spent so many hours here, at all times of day and night. It's comforting to me and it feels like home.
